(New York, NY) — The MTA says congestion pricing has already led to shorter commute times for drivers motoring through midtown. They released a first batch of stats on Monday.  During the Monday through Friday of last week, there were 218-thousand fewer cars coming into the zone compared to a typical week last year. That’s down about seven-point-five-percent. Traffic on inbound Hudson River crossings was 30 to 40-percent faster and on the streets 20 to 30-percent faster. The MTA hasn’t revealed how much money the congestion fee has brought in.

Meanwhile, Republicans are vowing to do everything in their power to turn off congestion pricing cameras. Hudson Valley Congressman Mike Lawler says the Trump Administration will review how to revoke the plan’s approval through the Federal Highway Administration while considering further legislation.
