7th Murder Attributed to Gilgo Serial Killer

heuremann

(Riverhead, NY) — The New York City architect and suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer now faces charges for a seventh murder.  Rex Heuermann was in court Tuesday (Dec. 17, 2024)  in Suffolk County where he was indicted for the murder of Valarie Mack. Mack was a sex worker who disappeared in 2000 and her remains were found in Gilgo Beach and Manorville. Prosecutors say they have DNA evidence linking Heuermann to her murder: a hair belonging to Rex Heuermann’s wife or daughter was found on the victim.

Prosecutors also revealed that all of the grisly slayings were carried out in his Massapequa Park basement, saying  the accused killer allegedly followed the instructions he outlined in a grotesque “planning document” to pull off all the murders — including using “push pins” and tarps inside his family home.

Heuermann pleaded not guilty to new charges and has denied wrongdoing after being charged in six other murders. Investigators are still looking into whether he is a suspect in other unsolved killings on Long Island.

Heuermann is also charged with the murders of Melissa Barthelemy, Amber Costello, Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Megan  \Waterman, Jessica Taylor and Sandra Costilla
