Monday, December 9, 2024, a person of interest was detained at a McDonald's in Altoona, PA -- in connection to the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The NYPD later identified the detained man as a suspect.

(Altoona, PA) — The Manhattan DA, along with the NYPD are waiting to find out when alleged CEO killer, Luigi Mangione will be brought back to New York City to face murder charges. The 26-year-old was cuffed as he sat in a McDonald’s in Altona, Pennsylvania on Monday morning.  A worker at the fast food joint recognized Mangione from the photos circulated nationwide by the NYPD and the FBI.

The Altoona cop, who took Mangione into custody says he knew pretty quickly that he was talking to the most wanted man in America. Officers say the 26-year-old was carrying around a gun, a silencer, four fake identification cards and a handwritten manifesto. In that manifesto, Mangione wrote the words, “These parasites had it coming”.

Mangione was the 2016 valedictorian at a high priced private school in Baltimore. Some of his fellow graduates at Gilman High say this is not the Luigi they knew.

A UnitedHealth Group spokesperson thanked all those who helped track down Mangione, as the company continues to mourn the death of it’s CEO, Brian Thompson. He was gunned down outside the midtown Hilton early last Wednesday morning.
