(New York, NY) — The world’s oldest known wild bird is going to be a new mother. A spokesman for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, reports a 74-year-old Laysan albatross named, Wisdom laid an egg last month on Midway Atoll in the Pacific Ocean. Researchers said they expect the egg to hatch in around two months, making Wisdom a mother for about the 30th time after hatching her last chick in 2021.

The bird has outlived Chandler Robbins, the scientist who banded her back in 1956 and died in 2017. Researchers estimate Wisdom has flown around three-point-seven-million miles throughout her life.
