(Albany, New York) – New York Governor Kathy Hochul is kicking off a statewide campaign to raise awareness about New York’s paid prenatal leave policy, which takes effect in the New Year.
Hochul says the purposes is to notify eligible New Yorkers and businesses about the policy she signed into law back in April, particularly pregnant women facing economic challenges. Come January 1st, workers will be able to take up to 20 hours of paid time off for any pregnancy-related medical appointments. The Governor said she has heard stories from struggling moms and moms-to-be about how they skipped pregnancy-related medical appointments because they couldn’t afford it, and/or couldn’t take time off from their jobs.
The campaign will start with the unveiling of subway ads and will be followed with social media outreach, a virtual media tour and more.
