A Long Island Family’s Tragedy

(Massapequa, New York) – 17-year-old Connor Kasin experienced a sudden medical emergency during a charity hockey game in Bethpage. at the Town of Oyster Bay Skating Center, on Saturday (Nov. 30, 2024)  night. It’s not clear what caused Kasin to lose consciousness while the game was in intermission, but witnesses jumped in to try to save him before he was taken to the hospital where efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. At least one civilian began CPR while waiting for EMS to arrive.

In a letter to the community, Massapequa High School officials and students remember Kasin for his kindness, positivity, enthusiasm and big smile. Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman extended his deepest condolences to the whole Massapequa community, especially Connor’s loved ones, friends, and teammates.  Massapequa High School officials say counseling services are available.

A wake will be held at the Massapequa Funeral Home South Chapel on Wednesday, December 4 from 7-9 p.m., and Thursday, December 5 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.A funeral mass will be held on Friday at 9:30 at St. William the Abbot Roman Catholic Church in Seaford, with burial to follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.
