(Tel Aviv, Israel) — Democratic Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib of Michigan is calling the International Criminal Court arrest warrant for Benjamin Netanyahu “long overdue.”  Tlaib says in a post on X that the U.S. has provided over 18-billion-dollars in weapons to Israel since their war with Hamas started. President Biden called the warrants “outrageous” and said the U.S. “will always stand with Israel against threats to its security.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is condemning the warrant for his arrest, calling the move antisemitic. The warrant is in response to alleged crimes against humanity in Gaza. The ICC also issued a warrant for Netanyahu’s former defense minister and the head of Hamas’ armed wing. While, the ICC’s jurisdiction is not recognized by Israel or the U.S., the warrant could make it difficult for Netanyahu to travel to other nations.
