(Los Angeles, CA) — The Menendez brothers will be in court on Monday. Erik and Lyle Menendez are serving life sentences for the 1989 murders of their parents in their Beverly Hills home. There’s been renewed interest in their case since Netflix released the hit true-crime drama series “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.” It features claims by the brothers that they were the victims of childhood sexual abuse by their father. They’re now challenging the validity of their convictions and are requesting that their sentences be reduced.
The site of the gruesome 1989 murders of Jose and Kitty Menendez has become a tourist attraction. The attention has been unwelcome by some of the neighbors. The Beverly Hills Police Department says they’ve responded to a slew of trespassing and noise complaints around the home. The house, rented by celebrities including Elton John and Prince before the Menendezes moved in, was sold to new owners for 17-million dollars back in March.
