(West Milford, NJ) — Forest Fire rangers continue to be extremely busy dealing with a number of wildfires in the New York City area. The largest one on the border of New York and New Jersey in Passaic and Orange counties has burned through 35-hundred acres and is only 20 percent contained. The fire is threatening structures including a couple West Milford homes and has prompted road closures and voluntary evacuations. Fire officials are concerned that windy, dry conditions forecasted for today will spread the fire and possibly start more wildfires.

There are wildfire and brush fires burning up in the Hudson Valley and on Long Island today too. Firefighters are praying for some heavy drenching rains to help battle the flames. There is no rain in the forecast though for the next seven days.
