(Voorhees, NJ)  — Firefighters in New Jersey have battled 400 forest fires in the last 30 days thanks to the incredibly dry conditions. They were back at Thursday night trying to tap down a blaze next to the Palisades Parkway in Englewood. Over in Voorhees, homeowners are being warned that they may have to evacuate due to a huge forest fire that has spread across Southern New Jersey. On Staten Island, the FDNY was putting out a number of brush fires on Thursday.

Jeremy Webber, with New Jersey Forest Fire Service says no one can remember a time where it was so dry and they were fighting so many forest fires.

New Yorkers continue to be asked to conserve water after a drought watch was issued for the five boroughs last weekend and it’s only expected to get worse. Officials say October saw the second-longest dry streak in city records dating back to 1869. Officials say the forecast is calling for below average rainfall in the next few months and that could mean New York City is weeks away from a drought warning. The Adams administration is asking New Yorkers to shorten showers, fix leaky toilets, keep sink water off while brushing teeth and conserve water in other ways.
