(New York, NY) – The New York State Comptroller, Thomas DiNapoli, is out with a new report and the numbers do not look good for the MTA. The comptroller said that there is the potential for “significant” budget gaps.
The comptroller says that ridership has not bounced back as forecasted, and the transit agency is in need of some serious cash flow in order to keep operating. The report also pointed out that the congestion pricing pause could increase the agency’s debt payments. Governor Kathy Hochul responded saying that she will work with the state assembly to make sure that the MTA has the funding they need.
