NJ Is Home To America’s Most Haunted Road

If you're looking for a spooky destination this Halloween season -- look no further than West Milford, New Jersey. Car rental company SIXT says Clinton Road is America's most haunted stretch of roadway. October 7, 2024.

(West Milford, NJ) – Some people really get into “spooky season” ahead of Halloween. And it turns out there’s a location attraction that’s sure to put the “fright” in your night. According to can rental company SIXT, New Jersey is home to the most haunted road in America.

The winding ten-mile stretch of Clinton Road in West Milford ranks number one in terms of the most haunted roadways. Locals have known about it for years. It’s routinely featured in the magazine “Weird New Jersey.” Tales of paranormal activity along Clinton Road have persisted for years. Some have reported seeing phantom headlights and even a “Ghost Boy” — who throws coins at drivers as they round Dead Man’s Curve.

SIXT ranks Florida’s Interstate Four number two in the Haunted Road report. Bray Road in Wisconsin took the third spot.

If you’re out on Long Island and don’t feel like making the drive to Clinton Road in West Milford, you’re in luck. There’s a haunted firehouse to check out. Located in Farmingville, the Long Island Haunted Firehouse plans to bring back its popular “Kill the Light” promotion. Visitors are given only a glow stick, and then they make their way through a darkened maze. Beginning October 13, the attraction is open only on Sundays from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. Tickets cost $15 per visitor.
