(New York, NY) – The shake ups at City Hall do not stop. Last night, a close advisor to the mayor, Tim Pearson, resigned. Pearson’s lawyer, Hugh Mo, confirmed that Pearson submitted his resignation to City Hall Monday night. The resignation will take effect on October 4th.
Pearson is a retired NYPD inspector & has been a close confidant of the mayor, with their relationship dating back to their time in the NYPD. His departure follows a wave of other resignations from City Hall, all amidst a federal corruption probe into Mayor Adams. The mayor, facing charges of bribery and fraud, pleaded not guilty last week to accusations that he traded political favors for illegal campaign contributions and luxury gifts.
During his time in the administration, Pearson faced multiple scandals, including lawsuits involving allegations of sexual harassment and an internal investigation into a violent altercation at a migrant shelter.
Mayor Adams praised Pearson’s long service in a statement, thanking him for over three decades of dedication to the city’s safety. Despite the controversies, Adams has defended Pearson’s role, particularly for his work in managing the city’s migrant shelters.
Pearson has been working with the city’s Economic Development Corporation, though his responsibilities extended far beyond that agency. He also earned an annual salary of over $240,000.
Pearson has previously faced scrutiny for holding dual jobs—working for the city while also employed at the Resorts World Casino—an arrangement he left shortly after it became public in 2022.
