(New York, NY) — Mayor Adams is facing a slew of federal corruption charges that include bribery and wire fraud. The indictment unsealed today accuses Adams of illegally accepting campaign contributions and gifts from wealthy foreign business people and at least one Turkish government official. Prosecutors say it dates back nearly a decade when Adams was the Brooklyn Borough President and then allegedly continued through his 2021 mayoral campaign and again as he prepares for his upcoming re-election bid. According to the indictment, Adams allegedly pressured the FDNY to speed up the opening of a Turkish building without a fire inspection to repay the Turkish Official. Adams has strongly denied wrong doing and vows to fight the charges and remain in office.
