Why a Diabetic Man’s Death Could Be a Homicide

mixcollage-20-sep-2024-01-57-pm-1753

A man's diabetic death while in custody has been ruled homicide by neglect. September 20, 2024.

(San Diego, CA) – After a man died while in custody, the Medical Examiner ruled the case a homicide. Apparently, Keith Bach — who suffered from Type 1 diabetes — died because he didn’t receive the insulin he needed as a result of his medical condition. As such, the cause of death was ruled homicide “by neglect.”

Brian Mason is an attorney for Bach’s family. He told the local NBC affiliate in San Diego — where this happened — that they will be filing a federal lawsuit. Apparently the local sheriff’s office, county, and a nursing care provider are named as plaintiffs.

Meanwhile, the San Diego Sheriff’s Office says it is investigating the incident and has expressed condolences to Bach’s family members.
