(New York, NY) – Rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, 54, is currently on suicide watch at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) as he awaits trial. Combs was arrested on the night of Sept. 16 at a Manhattan hotel, following an indictment on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transporting individuals for prostitution. After pleading not guilty, he was denied bail twice and remains in custody at MDC, known for its dangerous and understaffed conditions.

While it’s unclear if Combs is suicidal, sources suggest that suicide watch is a precaution due to his mental state. The U.S. Department of Justice defines suicide watch as close supervision for at-risk inmates. Combs’ legal team has requested his transfer to a New Jersey facility, but the decision is pending with the Bureau of Prisons.

MDC has been criticized for poor conditions, with several deaths and suicides reported in recent years. In their appeal for bail, Combs’ attorneys highlighted these risks, citing recent incidents, including an inmate murder this summer.

The indictment against Combs accuses him of organizing “freak offs,” described as elaborate, coerced sex performances involving drugs like cocaine and oxycodone. These events were allegedly recorded without the victims’ consent. During a raid on Combs’ properties earlier this year, authorities seized weapons and other items related to the investigation. A follow-up court hearing is scheduled for Sept. 24.
