(Undated) — The world’s first all-civilian spacewalk is a success. SpaceX launched four people into orbit Tuesday morning as part of the ambitious Polaris Dawn mission and today they made history. American billionaire Jared Isaacman, who paid for the trip, was the first to exit the Dragon capsule on a tether followed by Sarah Gillis with the other two crew members remaining inside. As he stepped into the vacuum of space Isaacman noted that “back at home we all have a lot of work to do, but from here Earth sure looks like a perfect world.”
NASA administrator Bill Nelson cheered the accomplishment, posting on social media “Today’s success represents a giant leap forward for the commercial space industry.”
