(San Francisco, CA) – Ricky Pearsall, a rookie wide receiver for the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers, has been released from the hospital after being shot over the weekend. Pearsall was wounded during an attempted robbery in Downtown San Francisco, near Union Square. Reports say a teenage suspect tried to rob Pearsall of his Rolex watch while he was out shopping.
During the ensuing struggle, Pearsall and the suspect were both wounded. Pending the teenager’s release from hospital, cops planned to file charges.
The 49ers say Pearsall suffered a bullet wound to the chest and will be recovering at home. San Francisco Mayor London Breed wished the 23-year-old Pearsall a speedy recovery. Drafted out of the University of Florida, Pearsall was not expected to serve a large role with the team’s offense this season. But this does put an increased spotlight on the rise of crime and violent incidents in San Francisco.
