(Hamden, CT) – Rapper Fatman Scoop, known for his 1990s hit “Be Faithful,” passed away at 53 after collapsing during a concert in Connecticut. The New York-born artist, whose real name was Isaac Freeman III, was performing at the “Green & Gold Party” in Hamden when he suffered a medical emergency. Video shared on social media showed the rapper hyping up the crowd before collapsing out of view. Onlookers immediately performed chest compressions, but Freeman was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Hamden Mayor Lauren Garrett confirmed the incident and asked for prayers for the rapper. His death was also confirmed by his tour manager, Birch Michael, and the UK-based Reminisce Festival, where he was scheduled to perform in September.

Known for collaborations with Missy Elliott, Mariah Carey, and others, Fatman Scoop had an impact on the music industry. Just a day before his passing, he released a new music video with Dyce Paso. His unexpected death leaves a void in the hearts of fans and fellow artists alike.
