(New York, NY) – A former city police officer has been sentenced to 27 years in prison for the murder of an ex-girlfriend’s new partner. Back in October 2021, off duty officer Yvonne Wu used her department issued gun to kill Jamie Liang, who at the time was dating her ex girlfriend, Jenny Li. Li was also shot and seriously injured.
The surviving victim, Li, had to relearn how to walk and sit up following the traumatic incident. Wu was initially charged with murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter and attempted murder in June. In court Wu apologized saying that she will never forgive herself.
