Will Mayor Adams Settle Lawsuit?

(New York, NY) – It seems that New York City Mayor Eric Adams will not be looking to settle the lawsuit brought by a woman who has accused him of sexual assault. During some fiery moments inside a court room on Friday, Adams’ attorney vehemently denied there would be any settlement.

Lorna Beach accuses Adams of sexual assault. She says it happened during the early 1990s when she and Adams worked as cops with the Transit Bureau. Both the plaintiff and Adams were in court for a hearing to determine rules about evidence. At one point the judge hinted both sides could choose to come to a settlement agreement.

That’s when Adams’ defense lawyer Alex Spiro spoke up and said they had zero interest in settling, because the case is “fictitious.” That drew a response from Beach’s attorney, and the threat of an additional website against Adams — for defamation.

Adams has denied he committed the offense alleged in the lawsuit. He routinely pointed to his time as a cop while on the campaign trail. And Adams will be seeking re-election next year as well.
