(Smithtown, New York) – Suffolk county officials are starting to get a look at the clean-up after Sunday evenings storms. Six homes were flooded near Stony Brook’s Mill Pond after a dam broke, the own Supervisor said that hasn’t happened since 1910.
Some part of Long Island’s north shore saw up to 10-inches of rain during the powerful storm. Service on the Long Island Railroad is suspended west of Kings Park as a result of the dam bursts inside Blydenburgh County Park, as the Nissequogue River continues to flood.
