(New York, NY) – Prominent New York Democrats were in Harlem last night, trying to rally support for the party’s presidential candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris. That event was met with resistance from Pro-Palestinian protesters. New York Governor Kathy Hochul, City Mayor Eric Adams and City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams all issued strong endorsements of the Harris-Walz campaign.

Demonstrators were kicked out of the event after attempting to disrupt speeches from Mayor Adams. They then confronted people at the afterparty as well. Smoke bombs were set off, violence erupted and there were mass arrests. 14 in total were arrested.

According to police, 9 were given summons for disorderly conduct, 3 were given desk appearance tickets for disorderly conduct. Two people were held overnight and are set to go before a judge. One of those was a 27 year old woman from Staten Island facing charges including attempted assault in the second and third degree. The other being held is a 45 year old woman from Manhattan. Her charges include criminal mischief in the second degree and rioting in the first degree.
