(New York, New York) – Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. says he’s responsible for the Central Park bear case. The 2014 incident stunned New Yorkers, leaving them asking themselves, ‘How did a bear end up in central park?’ Kennedy released a video showing ‘the redneck side of him’ as he called it, to social media explaining what happened and why he did it.

Kennedy explains that he was driving through the Hudson Valley when he saw the cub who had been hit by a car and left on the side of the road. He decided to load up the 6-month-old 44 pound cub into his car and head into the city. Kennedy had planned to skin the cub and keep him in his refrigerator to eat the meat, but Kennedy spent longer than expected at a dinner in the city and decided the meat wasn’t good to eat anymore.

Kennedy had plans to go to the airport later that evening but did not want to leave the dead bear in his car, so he planted it in the park with an old bicycle, saying he thought it would fit a narrative about a series of bike accidents in the city.

Kennedy said, “Luckily the story died after a while, and it stayed dead for a decade, and the New Yorker somehow found out about it,”
