(Washington, D.C.) — President Joe Biden told Americans Wednesday night that it’s time to pass the torch to a new generation of leaders. He spoke for the first time since he made the decision to drop out of the 2024 race for the White House. Biden, who spoke from the oval office gave little detail about how or why he made the decision to drop out, instead he said now is the time for fresh and younger voices. He then endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to be the Democratic nominee for president.

Biden spoke about his administration’s accomplishments and vowed to focus on his role as commander-in-chief over the next six months.

Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis says he would have rather seen former President Donald Trump run against Biden, but he says he believes Vice-President Kamala Harris can be beaten too this Fall. DeSantis points to Harris’ failure to secure the U.S southern border. DeSantis says he wouldn’t be surprised if Democrats decided to dump her at the convention.
