(New York, NY) – New York’s top Congressional Democrats are coming out in support of Vice President Kamala Harris as she mounts a campaign for the White House. After President Joe Biden announced he would no long seek re-election last weekend, Harris became one of the top contenders for the nomination. Reportedly she has secured enough support from delegates to in fact secure the nomination as well.
Now, US Senator Chuck Schumer of New York and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries have endorsed Harris’ candidacy. Schumer, the Senate Majority Leader, described her ascension as “grassroots” even though she won zero primary contests. He also expressed confidence she will defeat former President Trump in the November election.
Harris has been focused on raising money for her campaign and she held a rally on Tuesday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin — a key swing state.
