(Washington, DC) – Reports indicate that a doctor who specializes in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease made eight separate trips to the White House during the past year. This comes amid growing calls for President Joe Biden to step down or be replaced as the Democrats’ candidate for president, as many have called his mental fitness into question.
While conservatives and a small section of the media have been saying President Biden’s mental condition has been slipping for years, the issue really came to a head following last month’s debate on CNN. Biden looked confused at times, spoke in hushed tones, and sometimes stared at former President Trump with his mouth open. Prominent Democrats, including New York Rep. Jerry Nadler, have called on Biden to be replaced ahead of the November election.
In a protracted back-and-forth, White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said she wouldn’t confirm the names of any visitors who may have been involved in medical consultation. She did say Biden has met with neurologists previously. Some have speculated President Biden could be dealing with a form of dementia or other age-induced condition.
During a meeting with Democratic governors last week, Biden shared he would be pushing to hold fewer events after 4:00 PM so as to conserve his energy. But that did little to calm the calls for him to step down, and may have in fact intensified them.
