Southwest Will Offer Travel Vouchers After Meltdown

(Dallas, TX) – After the so-called “holiday meltdown” of 2022, Southwest Airlines is going to offer $75 travel vouchers following certain canceled or delayed flights. This is part of an agreement with the US Department of Transportation after thousands were stranded nationwide.

Now, Southwest is offering these “LUV” vouchers. Passengers qualify if their flight is canceled or delayed within one-week of departure. They can also get one of the $75 vouchers for a flight that arrives three hours or more late. That said, factors outside the airlines’ control — like bad weather — don’t qualify.

During the ’22 meltdown, a system failure within software used by Southwest caused a cascading series of errors and problems. And given it happened during the busiest travel time of the year, it amounted to a major disruption for the entire nation’s transportation.
