(Manorville, NY)  —  The Gilgo Beach investigation is reportedly spreading to wooded areas in Manorville. Media reports say investigators will continue to search an area off the Long Island Expressway near Exit 70 today.  The Suffolk County DA would not say what they were looking for, or if it’s connected to the Gilgo beach murders. Rex Heuermann has been charged in the deaths of four women whose remains were found on Gilgo Beach. Detectives want to know if he may be behind up to six other unsolved murders on Long Island. Heuerman has pleaded not guilty.

Heuermann was back in a Long Island courtroom for another hearing in his case on Wednesday. Attorneys for the former New York City architect are asking to see the FBI files former Suffolk County Police Chief James Burke kept when he oversaw the Gilgo Beach case. Burke spent 46-months in federal prison for assault and obstruction of justice.
