(Toronto) – Six people have been arrested in Canada — including an airport worker — after a multimillion dollar gold bar heist was uncovered. Authorities say the caper took place at Toronto’s International Airport. It allegedly involved stealing gold bars from an airport warehouse.
Canadian police say it went down last year. The gold bars were in an air cargo container and one of the defendants is accused of using fake paperwork to gain access to the warehouse where it was being stored. In all the gold bars are worth upward of $22 million. In addition to the six people under arrest, three arrest warrants have been issued for additional suspects. Cops have referred to it as an “inside job.”
The gold bars were ultimately slated for delivery at a bank in the Toronto area.
