(New York, NY) — A Queens family is desperately searching for their missing son, who has autism. 18-year-old Chad May was last seen in the backyard of his Laurelton home on Monday. Chad went bike riding and never returned home. His family members say Chad is not one to run away, and is normally always being monitored by a home health aide. Neighbors and police are helping in the search for Chad, who answers to his name, but is non-verbal.
Chad’s home health aide says she has not been able to sleep or eat since letting him go on the bike ride around 5 p.m. on Monday. Family members, along with neighbors and police have been walking the streets of Laurelton looking for the teenager. They don’t believe he would go far from home. K-9s and drones are assisting in the search. Chad is 5-foot-5 and 130 pounds.
