(Lodi, NJ) — Neighbors in a slew of towns across the Tri-State are still bailing water out of their basements from Saturday’s soaker. One family in Lodi, New Jersey says they lost two cars to the flood waters.  A number of people had to be rescued from the flooding. Yonkers firefighters says a driver, who drove around barricades to get onto the Bronx River Expressway had to be rescued.  The firefighters had to put on wet suits and get into an inflatable raft to get to the the 20-year-old driver. They brought him back to dry land. No one was hurt during the rescue.

Several New Jersey communities are awaiting federal aid that will help address some of the chronic flooding problems. The Bergen County communities of Emerson, Tenafly, Leonia and Englewood are expected to receive nearly five million in federal dollars for items like storm drain and infrastructure improvements. Some North Jersey towns have been hit by three huge floods just since December.
