(London, United Kingdom) — Kate Middleton the Princess of Wales has been diagnosed with cancer. The Princess made the announcement in a video message released by the palace on Friday. Kate says she is in the “early stages” of treatment. She said tests after a planned abdominal surgery in January found cancer had been present. Last month it was announced that King Charles was diagnosed with cancer. The King is undergoing treatment for his condition.

Middleton is asking for “time, space and privacy” as she deals with her recent cancer diagnosis. The Princess of Wales released a pre-recorded video on the BBC Friday night and said the past two months have been “incredibly tough for our entire family.” She did not reveal what type of cancer she has. Middleton said she disappeared from public view after the diagnosis as she tried to recuperate.
