(Lodi, NJ)– More misery for homeowners in Norther New Jersey after another round of flooding from the drenching rain over the weekend. People who live along the Passaic River in New Jersey are keeping a close eye on the rising water that has historically flooded neighborhoods, leaving people stranded in their homes. Sections of Lodi turned into rivers from Saturday’s storm. This is the third time the region has been flooded since December. Forecasters say the week should remain dry. The next chance of rain is on Friday.
Federal money is coming to northern New Jersey communities to help address flooding problems. Congressman Josh Gottheimer is announcing that more than three and a half million dollars has been approved to help with flooding related problems in four Bergen County communities. The money will go toward Emerson, Leonia, Englewood and Tenafly. It will be used to help control storm water runoff, stop sewer system infiltration, and make drainage improvements. Gottheimer says the federal money will go a long way because most small communities can’t make significant flood prevention investments with their own money.
