(Babylon, NY) — Two men and two women, accused of cutting up two bodies and then placing their limbs in Long Island parks are out on supervised release. All four entered not guilty pleas on Wednesday as they went before a Suffolk County judge. John Halverson, a lawyer for one of the accused, says his client is innocent, and he believes prosecutors have failed to show him evidence that would change his mind. Investigators say three of the four accused lived in an Amityville home, where police found meat cleavers and butcher knives. Detectives say the four used those knives to dismember a man and woman whose remains were then dumped in three locations.
The victims are a 53-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman from Yonkers. Police have not released their identities. Sources say a love triangle could be a motive behind the gruesome murders. The four accused of cutting up the bodies are 44-year-old Steven Brown, 38-year-old Jeffrey Mackey, 40-year-old Amanda Wallace, and 33-year-old Alexis Nieves, 33. They are all charged with first-degree hindering prosecution, tampering with physical evidence, and concealment of a human corpse. The four must wear monitoring bracelets and hand in their passports. Prosecutors say more charges could come as police do their investigation.
