(Englewood, NJ) — More court documents have been filed revealing new gold bar allegations in the federal fraud case against Senator Bob Menendez. New York prosecutors now say the New Jersey Democrat and his wife Nadine told at least two people, including a jeweler, that Nadine inherited the gold from her mother. But prosecutors say the inheritance story is a lie and that at least four of the gold bars found in the Senator’s clothes closet bear serial numbers showing they belonged to Fred Daibes, a New Jersey developer accused of bribing Menendez to intervene in a criminal case. Prosecutors also detailed how they found bags of cash in closets in Menendez’s New Jersey home. The Senator, his wife and Daibes have all pleaded not guilty. They are expected to stand trial in May.
