1 Dead-22 Hurt In KC Super Bowl Parade Shooting

(Kansas City, MO) – At least one person is dead and nearly two dozen hurt following a shooting Wednesday afternoon at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade. 11 of the victims are reported to be children.  Three people are in custody. Upward of 1 million people were estimated to have watched the parade that snaked through Downtown Kansas City. The shooting took place near the parade route’s conclusion, at Union Station train depot. Video posted to social media shows first responders, some armed with long guns, running into Union Station.

The person killed is a Kansas City DJ. Radio station KFFI 90/1 FM identified her as one of their DJs, Lisa Lopez-Galvan. The Chiefs have released a statement saying ..”The organization is truly saddened by the senseless act of violence that occurred outside of Union Station.  Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and all of Kansas City. The NFL released a statement saying “The league was deeply saddened by the incident, and was grateful for the “quick and thorough response” of both law enforcement and emergency personnel. No word on a motive for the gunfire
