(Washington, DC) — A new poll shows most Americans feel President Biden is too old to serve in office. The ABC News/Ipsos poll taken after a special counsel’s report cited Biden’s memory lapses, finds 86 percent believe he’s too old for the White House. The 81-year-old is the oldest President to run for re-election. Former President Trump, the GOP frontrunner is 77.
The White House is downplaying concerns over President Biden’s age and mental fitness. Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters the special counsel’s report claiming Biden had significant memory problems doesn’t live in reality. She conceded Biden can misspeak at times, but noted that he has a history of verbal gaffes spanning his decades of his public service. The report into President Biden’s handling of classified documents concluded the evidence was insufficient to charge him, but sharply criticized Biden’s memory.
