(Hicksville, NY) — It’s Mazi versus Suozzi on Tuesday. The two candidates, Mazi Pilip for the Republicans, and Democrat Tom Suozzi are battling it out to take the Third District congressional seat left open after George Santos was thrown out of it in December. Suozzi was out campaigning Sunday. He says Republicans have kept Pilip behind closed doors, because that she has no details of what she will do if she makes it to Congress. Pilip says Suozzi was in Congress when the migrant mess began, and does not deserve to be sent back.
Early voting in the tightly contested race ended on Sunday. The Board of Elections says a little over 50, 000 cast ballots ahead of Tuesday. Pilip is an Ethiopian Jew, who served in the Israeli military before moving to the United States. Tom Suozzi was a three-term congressman who left office to run in an unsuccessful bid for Governor.
