Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg Jr. has faced withering criticism from New York Republicans following the attack on two NYPD cops in Times Square.

(New York, NY) – Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg says seven migrants have been indicted in the attack of two NYPD police officers in Times Square. The attack unfolded on January 27 near a migrant shelter. Outrage ensued as a group of the attackers were originally detained then freed without having to post bail. There have been reports that some involved in the incident fled the state.
Earlier this week, a man identified as the main culprit in the dustup was indicted. Then, reports emerged that ICE had detained four migrants in Arizona, in connection to the Times Square attack. But DA Bragg says those migrants are not connected to the New York City attack.
Many, including some Republican lawmakers in New York, made it clear they felt Bragg completely mishandled the situation by not at least asking for bail. Now, Bragg says the video of the incident makes him sick, and that both as a New Yorker and as DA he won’t accept violence against officers.
