(Washington, D.C.) — The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments today on whether former president Trump is eligible to serve another term. The high court will hear a case over the Colorado Supreme Court ruling that disqualified Trump from that state’s ballot. The Colorado justices ruled that Trump violated the Constitution by taking part in an insurrection during the Capitol riot. The impact of the High Court’s ruling is significant, since challenges to Trump’s eligibility by 11 other states hang in the balance.
Trump warns that efforts to keep him off the ballot “threaten to disenfranchise tens of millions of Americans” and “promises to unleash chaos and bedlam if other state courts and state officials follow Colorado’s lead.” President Biden is trailing Donald Trump in a number of national polls ahead of the November election.
