FILE- This photo provided by NASA shows a photo taken by the Lucy spacecraft during Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023 flyby of asteroid Dinkinesh, 300 million miles from Earth. It turns out Dinkinesh, which is only a half-mile across, has a dinky sidekick ... just one-tenth of a mile across. This little companion was a surprise to everyone. (NASA via AP)
CAPE CANAVERAL, FL- An asteroid as big as a skyscraper will pass within nearly 2 million miles of Earth on Friday. NASA says three smaller asteroids also will miss Earth Friday, with another two on Saturday. Scientists say there’s no chance of it hitting earth, saying it will pass seven times the distance from Earth to the moon. The asteroid was first spotted back in 2008
The good news is, we won’t see the asteroid in our solar system again until 2032 –and even then it will be around 45 million miles from earth.
