(West Hollywood, CA) — Fitness guru Richard Simmons took to Facebook to say he has nothing to do with a new movie being made about him. Warner Brothers announced Wednesday that a biopic is in development. It was a rare public comment from Simmons who has become a recluse in recent years. Warner Brothers says comedian and actor Pauly Shore will play Simmons. Shore says he has appealed to the 75-year-old to be part of the project, but seemingly has been turned down.
Simmons, who ran a very successful fitness empire, was the face of his videos and informercials. He was a sought after guest on talks shows till he disappeared from public life around a decade ago. There were rumors that he was being held against his will, but insiders who know him say he just wanted out of the public spotlight.
