(Little Falls, NJ) — Sixteen New Jersey counties are under a flood watch as rivers continue to rise and take over homes and businesses.  First responders are making water rescues in Paterson, where homeowner have called 911 to say they are trapped in their houses by flood waters. The Passaic River began cresting around 6 p.m. Thursday night. It’s expected to overflow it’s banks into Friday afternoon.

Rising water is a big issue on Fire Island, out on Long Island too. Homeowners say they have not see flooding so bad since Superstorm Sandy. Dunes disappeared after Tuesday’s drenching rains. Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine toured Fire Island on Thursday, and is asking Governor Hochul to help pay for the clean-up.

There is more misery for the water logged towns on Long Island and New Jersey. The forecast calls for more rain on Saturday. Some areas could get an inch of rain before the storm moves out.
