(New York, NY) — Mayor Adams says crime is down in America’s biggest city. He says the numbers are even more impressive when it comes to violent crime like murders and shootings, but the perception of a violent city remains with many who live both inside and right outside the Big Apple. Broadway producers say they have seen a drop in ticket sales from the usually reliable New York suburbs. A survey they conducted shows safety is one of the biggest reasons many from New York City bedroom communities are not heading in to see shows on the Great White Way. During the 2022-2023 Broadway season, suburban Broadway goers bought the fewest number of tickets in the 23 years the Broadway League has tracked tickets sales outside New York City.
