Adams’ Executive Order Addresses Migrant Buses

mixcollage-27-dec-2023-06-21-pm-3668

Mayor Adams executive order issued December 27, 2023 targets charter bus companies.

(New York, NY) – Mayor Eric Adams has issued an executive order that could lead to charter buses having their vehicles impounded, if they’re bringing migrants into New York City. Adams made the announcement during a virtual press conference held alongside the mayors of Chicago and Denver — both fellow Democrats. Under the order, charter bus companies must provide 32 hours’ advance notice before bringing in bus loads of migrants. The drop-offs can also only be completed between 8:30 AM and noon, Monday through Friday, at designated spots set up by the city.

Companies that violate the order risk being issued fines or having their buses impounded — and they could face lawsuits as well. New York City, Denver, and Chicago have all dealt with an influx of migrants over the past year, partially as a result of Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s plan to bus migrants from border crossings to metropolitan areas.

Early Wednesday morning, during the overnight hours, a bus carrying around 200 migrants arrived in New York City from Philadelphia. Apparently their flight from El Paso, Texas to New York had been diverted.
