NEW YORK – Police say the man that was found dead in Central Park has now been identified as a Brooklyn resident.
Ian Stapp, 37, was found unresponsive and unconscious with superficial wounds on his neck, stomach and chest. The EMS pronounced him dead on the scene just before 9 a.m.
“At this point in the investigation we have not made a full determination as to cause of death until the autopsy. However, our preliminary theory and investigation indicates that his injuries could have been self inflicted,” Assistant Chief Ruel Stephenson said.
Stapp was found by a Central Park Conservancy employee during his routine walkthrough of the park.
This incident is still under investigation.
