Israel, hostages
(Tel Aviv) – According to representatives from the Middle Eastern country of Qatar, an agreement has been reached between Israel and Hamas to extend their ceasefire by two additional days. This coming on what was the fourth and final day of an original agreement that paused the fighting.
After another group of hostages was released Sunday, including four-year-old Abigail Mor Edan, Israel reportedly has received the list of who will be freed Monday. That said, there are also reports that both Israeli officials and officials with Hamas in Gaza have “problems” with the two lists ahead of the planned exchange.
To date, Hamas has released 58 hostages — some of them Thai nationals. Israel has released 117 Palestinian prisoners as a result of the deal.
President Biden says the chief goal during negotiations is the release of more hostages.
