Andrew Cuomo
(New York, NY) – Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has been sued for alleged sexual assault, as the state’s Adult Survivors Act is set to expire. The law allowed for an extended period within which lawsuits of this type can be filed, although the statute of limitations may have expired.
In this case, Cuomo is being accused by his former executive assistant Brittany Commisso, as first reported by TMZ. She claims the incidents in question took place in 2021, after the married mother joined his administration in 2017. Commisso maintains Cuomo made unwanted passes at her and attempted to engage in sexual acts with her.
In early 2022, a criminal sexual assault complaint brought against Cuomo — a misdemeanor — was dismissed by an Albany criminal court. Cuomo has routinely denied any wrongdoing in cases of this type, as numerous women came forward to accuse him before he ultimately stepped down as governor in 2021.
