(New York, NY) – Prosecutors have dropped the gun charge filed against Republican New York City Councilwoman Inna Vernikov. She was spotted last month at a Pro-Palestinian protest with a gun on her hip. That was allegedly in violation of a New York State law that prohibits bringing a gun to a protest.
Vernikov is of Jewish descent and is an outspoken supporter of Israel — she was attending the event in a counter-protest fashion. Apparently, an NYPD lab analysis of the firearm in question found it was unloaded and inoperable — so the gun charge couldn’t proceed.
